At PetVax Complete Care Centers, we work hard to spare pets from unnecessary pain and suffering, and pet vaccinations are a big part of that. Pet owners aren't always sure what their pets need to stay healthy, so here are some of the most common concerns – and what our veterinary team has to say.
Every cat in Tennessee must have a Rabies vaccination, but we recommend a few other core vaccinations to prevent the most common, contagious, and devastating feline diseases. Most cats enjoy the best odds with these core vaccines:
Some cats also receive non-core vaccinations to further strengthen their immune systems. We offer the feline infectious peritonitis (FIP) vaccination for cat owners who opt in.
Dogs face unique risks, and their vaccination schedules will look a little different too. In addition to the rabies vaccine, every dog should get core vaccinations to prevent the following:
We also offer a Lyme disease vaccine, a non-core pet vaccine that protects your dog in case of tick exposure.
Young cats and dogs are more vulnerable to contagious diseases and infections, so it's important to make sure your new pet's wellness needs are covered from Day 1. Dogs and cats can get vaccinated as early as six weeks, so schedule a kitten or puppy checkup as soon as possible. After your puppy or kitten receives the first vaccination, they will need to come in a few more times for additional vaccines, as well as booster shots that "boost" the effectiveness of earlier vaccines. For the first shot in the series, Memphis veterinarian recommends an FVRCP/C vaccine for kittens and a distemper/parvo/corona vaccine for puppies.
We don't want cost to prevent any of our patients from getting the vaccines they need. At PetVax, we've combined our core vaccines for dogs and cats into a few different vaccination packages. Bundle your pet vaccines to save money on this annual service, or request vaccines a la carte from our price list. For example, the rabies vaccine is $14.48 each for dogs or cats, but basic packages start at $42 and include up to seven other vaccinations. Our premium packages also include non-core vaccines and parasite screenings. We have multiple animal hospital locations for your family's convenience, and most of our services are walk-ins, so just stop by to update your pet's vaccination schedule.
